COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Two suspects are now in custody after a carjacking of a UPS driver.
Police told Channel 2 Action News the driver, using a Penske rental truck, was out late delivering holiday packages in a west Cobb neighborhood around 10 p.m. Thursday.
That’s when police said at least two suspects forced him out of the truck in front of a house on Burnt Hickory Road and took off with it.
Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach was the only reporter on the scene, and he said this isn’t the first-time delivery drivers have been targeted.
Channel 2 Action News has reported similar incidents going back last couple months.
Two of the similar incidents involved UPS and one from FedEx in Atlanta. Police said they’re not sure if the incidents are connected.
This time, police quickly spotted the truck at an abandoned carwash, then arrested two men less than one quarter mile down the road at a CVS on Due West Road in Marietta.
Channel 2 Action News is waiting for the names of the men arrested and their charges.
